Make Your Own Dress, Step by Step
The planned project for the term is a sleeveless button-front collared dress with a flared skirt and optional pockets. It lets you practise the core skills in order: measuring, drafting a pattern, cutting, shaping and finishing.

Learning follows the order you would use for a real garment:
- Take measurements and draft a simple pattern to match your size
- Place pattern pieces, respect grainlines and cut the bodice and skirt
- Sew darts and seams, press as you go and check fit with guidance
- Attach the collar and facings for a neat finish around the neckline
- Make the button front with care over spacing and stitching
- Join the bodice to the flared skirt, add optional pockets and finish seams
- Hem, press and review finishing touches
